Welcome to the website of Swanley and North Downs Lions Club.
Swanley and North Downs Lions (S&ND) is a member of Lions International, the world's largest service organisation.  Non-
political and non-sectarian - with 1.4 million members in nearly 200 countries - Lions Clubs unite people of every race and
culture in fellowship and community service.
Founded in 1977 as Farningham and District Lions, S&ND serves the towns and villages along Kent's North Downs, where
its members live and where it raises funds to support local needs.
We meet requests for help, both financial and practical, from organisations and individuals, giving preference to those
within our catchment area. We have a major commitment to the Lions Hospice (now part of EllenorLions Hospices) which
serves our area and which the club helped to found. Club members continue to raise funds for the Hospice  and give
practical help as volunteers in various roles.
Our three major fund-raising activities are a sponsored walk - in 2013  on Sunday 12 May;  'Bike around Brands' on Friday
evening 16 August - and the 'Swanley Park 10k' Cross Country race and (shorter distance) Fun Run in Swanley Park on
Sunday 8 September. We also 'shake a bucket' in a local shopping centre each Christmas and take carols and Santa Claus
around the streets.
But just in case you get the impression Lionism is all about fund-raising, we (and our families and friends) also enjoy 'life
with the Lions'. We have a lively social programme and even fund-raising events can be fun - the best results come from a
team of good friends!
The Club meets twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesdays in Swanley at 8pm and a warm welcome is extended
to anyone to come and find out what Lionism in Swanley and North Downs is all about.
Just click on the 'Meet the Lions' button - and we'll be delighted to tell you more.
